Runners and walkers of all ages are Welcome
The Butterfly 5k will be held on Sunday August 24th. All proceeds from the race will go to the Julia Cekala Charitable Foundation. The Foundation's primary project is the further expansion and up keep of Julia's Garden, which is the site of the race.
Location: WWI Memorial Park on Elmwood Ave. in North Attleboro. There is free parking at the park. The start of the race is on Elmwood Ave in front of the park.
5k Course: Some races brag that their course is flat…ours is downhill! Get a personal record on this net downhill, USATF Certified, 5k (3.1 miles) course. The 5k start is at 10:00 am. The first mile drops over 100 feet, the second mile is level, the last mile is rolling.
The Kids race:400 meters (1/4 mile) starts at 11:00 am right next to Julia's playground inside the WW1 park.
Registration: Print out and mail the PDF with your entrance fee. Fees: $15 per runner/walker if recieved before August 13th, $18 thereafter. Kids quarter mile race is free!
Prizes:
5k – $100 check and trophies awarded for for 1st overall male and female; $50 each for 2nd male and female; $25 each for 3rd male and female. Age group trophies for top 3 male and female: 10-19, 20-29, 30-39,40-49,50+
Team Prizes – A prize for the top team (3 runners) will be awarded in the following categories: School, Open. You must name your team on the application.
Kids Prizes: All kids will receive a prize for running! Medals for top 3 boy and girl runners in the following age groups: 0-5, 6-7, 8-9, 10-12.
Shirts: Shirts to the first 150 applicants!
Post Race: Willow Tree is sponsoring the post-race spread of food and drink for all runners and volunteers. The race prizes will be awarded, as well as a raffle, and kids activities.
Raffle: All 5k entrants will receive 1 raffle ticket and additional tickets will be available for purchase. Great items will be raffled off including a family membership to the Hockamock YMCA, wine baskets, gift certificates to DB Sports, a brand new swing set and gift certificates to Willow Tree Poultry Farm's retail store in Attleboro!
