The Butterfly 5k will be held on Sunday August 19th 2012.  All proceeds from the race will support The Julia Cekala Charitable Foundation.  The ongoing mission of the foundation is the maintenance and expansion of "Julia's Garden and Playground" located at the WWI Memorial Park.

Location: The 5k start is at the gate of the World War I Memorial Park at 401 Elmwood St., North Attleboro (across from the Hockomock YMCA). The kids' race starts by the Julia's Playground at the top of the WWI Park.  Parking is provided in the back of the WWI park by the ball fields.

5k Course:  Some races brag that their course is flat…ours is downhill!  Get a personal record on this net downhill, USATF Certified, 5k (3.1 miles) course.  The 5k start is at 10:00 am. The first mile drops over 100 feet, the second mile is level, the last mile is rolling. 

 

The Free Kids Race: The 400 meter kid's race starts at 11:30 am right next to Julia's Playground inside the WWI park. All participants will receive medals. Ribbons will be awarded to the top 3 runners in each age category. Click here for the printable PDF Kids Race Registration form.  Race day check in and walk in registration will be at the entrance to Julia's Garden by the arch.

Registration: Online Registration is available until 9:00 pm Sunday Aug 14th or print out and mail in the PDF with your entrance fee.  All mailed in forms must be post marked by 8/11/2012.  Fees: $25 per runner/walker on or before Aug 12th, $30 after Aug 12th.  Race day registration starts at 8:00 AM at the entrance arch to Julia's Garden.  Walk in race day registration will end promptly at 9:45 am.

Saturday Registration/Number Pickup: Walk in Registration and number pickup will be available at Julia's Garden on the grass area just below the beach area from 1:00pm to 5:00pm on Saturday August 20th.

Prizes:  Butterfly 5k – $100 check and trophies awarded for for 1st overall male and female; $50 each for 2nd male and female; $25 each for 3rd male and female.  Age group trophies for top 3 male and female:  0-13, 14-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+

Team Prizes – A prize for the top team (3 runners) will be awarded in the following categories: High School Team, Open Team.  You must name your team on the application.  You must print the full name of your team on the application.  No abbreviations or initials are allowed.

T-Shirts: T-shirts to the first 500 applicants!  Register early for best size selection. Additional shirts may be purchased for $10.

Post Race:  Meet us back up at Julia's Garden for the Kid's Race, entertainment supplied by Luke's DJ service, the trophy announcements, and  live butterfly release.  Also, Willow Tree Farm will be supplying  food and drink for all runners and volunteers.

Raffle: Tickets will be available for purchase on race day.
