Most Successful Race to Date!
Despite the very wet and rainy weather, this year's Butterfly 5K race is one for the record books! With over 770 registered runners, we increased this year's race attendance by over 200. The weather did not dampen the fun. Participants enjoyed music by Luke's DJ Service, amazing face painting by Mary Ann LaBone, food from our generous vendors and many attendees won exciting raffle items.
We would like to thank all of you who braved the weather and joined us, making this years race, another record year. This day would not have been possible without the efforts of the North Attleboro and Plainville Police Departments, North Attleboro Fire Department's EMT personnel, our generous sponsors, and of course our dedicated volunteers.

Runners and walkers of all ages are Welcome
The Butterfly 5k will be held on Sunday August 22nd 2010. All proceeds from the race will support The Julia Cekala Charitable Foundation. The ongoing mission of the foundation is the maintenance and expansion of "Julia's Garden and Playground" located at the WWI Memorial Park.
Location: The 5k start is at the gate of the World War I Memorial Park at 401 Elmwood St., North Attleboro (across from the Hockomock YMCA). The kids' race starts by the Julia's Playground at the top of the WWI Park. Parking is provided in the back of the WWI park by the ball fields.
5k Course: Some races brag that their course is flat…ours is downhill! Get a personal record on this net downhill, USATF Certified, 5k (3.1 miles) course. The 5k start is at 10:00 am. The first mile drops over 100 feet, the second mile is level, the last mile is rolling.
The Kids Race: 400 meters (1/4 mile) starts at 11:00 am right next to Julia's playground inside the WW1 park. Click here for the printable PDF Kids Race Registration form.
Registration: Online Registration is available until 10:00 am Saturday Aug 22nd. Or print out and mail the PDF with your entrance fee. Fees: $20 per runner/walker. Kids quarter mile race is free! Race day registration starts at 8:00 AM at the entrance arch to Julia's Garden.
Prizes: 5k – $100 check and trophies awarded for for 1st overall male and female; $50 each for 2nd male and female; $25 each for 3rd male and female. Age group trophies for top 3 male and female: 0-13, 14-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+
Team Prizes – A prize for the top team (3 runners) will be awarded in the following categories: High School Team, Open Team. You must name your team on the application.
Kids Prizes: All kids will receive a prize for running! Medals for top 3 boy and girl runners in the following age groups: 0-5, 6-7, 8-9, 10-12.
Shirts: Shirts to the first 500 applicants! Register early for best size selection. Additional shirts may be purchased for $10.
Post Race: Willow Tree will be sponsoring the post-race food and drink for all runners and volunteers. The race prizes will be awarded, as well as a raffle, and kids activities.
Raffle: All 5k entrants will receive 1 raffle ticket and additional tickets will be available for purchase on race day.
